Videos of the week: design
This week, we're going to look at a set of videos that are related to design. They're all very different from each other, but all equally worthy of your attention.
1. Tom Ryan, the CEO of Threadless, talks to Bloomberg about the service, new features and their plans for the future. In the US, they're apparently known as the 'American Idol of T-shirt design' (!!). I was particularly interested to hear about Threadless Atrium, where they plan to open their community-based design network to a range of partners who can harness the platform in different ways, as well as their partnership with fashion designer Steven Alan. Also in the pipeline is a collaboration with music bands.
2. Peter Hall, a design critic and senior lecturer at the University of Austin in Texas spoke at TEDxAustin recently about the design of maps, including data visualization. He mentions a number of examples which the dataviz fans amongst you may like to take a look at.
3. Mike Monteiro, Design Director at Mule Design Studio in San Francisco, spoke at the San Francisco Creative Morning event last month about the difficulties of dealing with clients and getting paid - a problem which most of the audience had faced by the looks of it.
