Woof woof: Unbillable Hours
Hello my darlings and welcome to our latest edition of Unbillable Hours, where we share the latest things on Slack and in our hearts and minds. Woof.
Things we’ve gone and done
Our Kickstarter has blown its goal out of the water! I’m a big fan of Hackaball. I’m a big fan of any ball to be honest... And that’s not the only exciting thing going on, at half 9 today everyone got excited and looked at the cloudy sky. I don’t get humans.

We had Bramble in the office this week. As a puppy, he can really get my goat. At least he didn’t poop into the heating grate this time. That was rank.
Fiona went to this thing where a lady danced with a helicopter. Humans are weird.
We also said goodbye to Paul. Farewell, buddy. I hope your new job is cool but let’s be honest, you’re gonna miss me.
On the bright side, the cleaning lady came every day this week. I love her. I’m literally in love with her.
Some of us went to SXSW to do some networking. I’m yet to work out what that means. Anyway, here’s a poem made from SXSW panel titles. Ilya also went travelling and found these weird signs in Milan:
Things we thought were alright
We loved Disney’s approach toward their electronic wristband. Did you know that red lights are banned at Disney because they could mean something’s gone wrong? I can’t see red so I’m not that bothered.
We’re big on user testing, so were very excited when Lookback 1.0 launched. It looks like a really nice tool for recording user feedback and bug reports.
Following the Kickstarter theme, I’ve begged my owner to get me a smartphone-controlled doggy disco jacket. We disagree on fashion.
23andMe announced that they are going to start their own medical research based on their customer data, an interesting move just after Apple announce ResearchKit.
Meanwhile the UK has been wondering how to get the attention of the country’s cybersecurity experts. Stage a massive terrorist attack, that’s how.
For those who like to travel, Telescope is a custom made city guide tailored to you. A nice merger of digital and physical.
We’re bourbon fans, so naturally are concerned about a possible shortage. But can distillers find a way to artificially age the stuff? The New Yorker ran a piece on what your tweets say about you. Finally, we’ve all seen crappy UI/UX analogies before; the tumblr produced a few laughs in the office.
You Wouldn’t Believe These Five More Things That We Liked
- A list of places that have banned selfie sticks. I’m not a big fan of selfie sticks as I don’t have opposable thumbs. Also you look like a mug.
- This interview with the inventor of the AeroPress, “the perfect coffee” (very popular in our offices).
- This article about the ugly LED “We’re open” sign endemic.
- This piece on how human attention is a valuable resource.
- This tweet:

Our standing desks experiment
We’ve been trying out standing desks for a few months here at Made by Many’s London office. Here are our initial experiences.
It happened! Hackaball is funded!
Hackaball is a computer you can throw. It's designed for six to ten year old kids and introduces them to basic ideas of coding, while keeping them active....
Unbillable Hours: Behind the scenes with Hackaball
Unbillable Hours is our weekly round-up of what we’re doing when we’re not working on client projects, plus our most-talked-about Slack links.
