I drew the below picture yesterday because, well, sometimes pictures say things best. It’s since been retweeted 360 times (and counting), so I’m guessing it resonated with others too...

Metaphors like this aren’t for everyone. They mask nuance. But I’ve probably spent twenty hours in the last month alone discussing what this picture alludes to. Sometimes it’s nice to have something to point at when you’re talking.

A chap on Twitter (Jason Yip) suggested putting the flag in a thought bubble on the third panel, because the protagonist will have an idea of what they’re aiming for. Good idea. Here it is:
