TimeOut MxM 14
This week the Many are attending events on intentional inclusivity and the future of travel, learning from failure and criticism, playing gamelan instruments and watching four dogs run laps around the studio.
Tweet at @zociechowska if you'd like us to know about your cool thing.
What are we doing to become better workers/human beings?
In celebration of Ada Lovelace Day, check out this event on intentional inclusivity on October 22.
We're learning about the future of travel on October 27.
We're going to a talk on value proposition design on October 29.
Made with Kickstarter is a showcase of some of Britain's best creative Kickstarter projects.
And this weekend we're checking out the Startup Weekend Art London to learn about improving how we fund, make, share and enjoy art and culture.
Which articles are causing a stir in our office?
StartUp - A few people in the studio have taken to listening to the new podcast by Alex Blumberg, which is a very honest account of what it's like to start your own business.
Learning to love criticism - Learning to respond to praise and criticism — without getting hooked by it — is for most of us, a necessary rite of passage.
Why getting it wrong is the future of design - Only by courting failure can we find new ways forward.
Cookies, caches and cows - Translating Firefox into new languages. In Fulah, “crash” became "hookii", a cow falling over but not dying.
How to host speakers who also happen to be parents of young children - Really great practical advice for event planners who want to make their events more inclusive.
What's on at the cinema?
City Visions is a season of films, talks and debates currently on at the Barbican exploring the ways in which cinema has engaged with the phenomenon of the modern city.
The ICA is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Krzysztof Kieślowski's 1989 masterpiece The Decalogue (Dekalog) with a complete retrospective from November 27.
How are we entertaining ourselves?
We're going to a gamelan class at the Southbank Centre to learn how to play gongs, drums and metallophones.
An Evening in Room for Wonder is an immersive performance which explores the stories, sensations and characters of a fairytale world guided by dancers, singers, artists and their offline and online audiences.
What kind of art and design are we stroking our chins to?
We're planning an outing to Constructing Worlds: Photography and Architecture in the Modern Age this month.
Blurring The Lines is an exciting exhibition at the British Council about culture in flux, told through sixteen stories of people reinventing creative exploration and participation.
NYC Makers is in its final weeks at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. Explore the work of 100 makers from across all five boroughs.
What about sports?
We have accidentally ended up with four dogs in the studio today (shout out to Tilly, Wally, Fry and Bramble!). We've been watching a lot of live dog racing.
What are we eating this week?
Our Polish dinner was a roaring success. The schnitzels didn't fit on our plates and the hazelnut vodka went down a treat. Autograf is where you should be headed.
